Airsoft Claymores and Mortars

Other than grenades there are several other devices that can become an essential part of your load out in the airsoft field. Today we will be going over two of those; claymores and mortars.

First we will touch on the M18A1 airsoft claymore. This device is a nice item have with you out in the field however it is mostly just for looks. It is based on the real steel look of a claymore and can be activated by either a remote detonation or a trip wire. It can hold approximately 100 bbs and has stakes to set up at several different angles. The claymore opens up by the front plate folding down, which opens up to the bb cache. First you would want to make sure that the nine volt batteries that run the claymore are good to go and the on/off switch is active. Then you push the arms of the grenade cache down and close the lid. While the front of the claymore is faced up you fill it with bbs by inserting them in to the hole on the front. Then you set the claymore up and it is ready to go. The claymore would be most useful in hallways or doorways but not so useful in open or wooded areas.

Next we will talk about airsoft mortars, specifically the Hakkotsu “Hades Arrow”. This airsoft mortar is powered by CO2 and water. You start by filling the main body of the Mortar shell with water and attaching the base, then you fill the aluminum tip with CO2 and cover the cap with the softer rubber cap for the mortar. Folding the fins up you place the mortar in the tube and forcefully insert it in to the tube nose up. The exacto knife blades in the bottom of the tube will puncture the seal and the mortar will go flying. This item could also be used shoulder mounted as a make shift rocket launcher if you are playing on a field that allows vehicles to be hit by rockets.

Both of these are good items but could be a little difficult to keep on you in the field. Definitely a good buy for field owners and event organizers.
