Bullpup Versus Standard AR Design

When it comes to airsoft, the bullpup design is far superior to the standard assault rifle design. You can take a bullpup design that is the same overall length of a standard M4 design and get much more range and accuracy out if the bullpup. The bullpup design has the magazine behind the pistol grip making use of the stock that is usually wasted on the standard AR design with fixed stocks.

If you are running a CQB or MOUT load out the choice is really which style you prefer, as the standard AR design has the option of a folding or collapsible stock. In a CQB scenario, the bullpup doesn’t offer much of an advantage, as it’s designed for increasing ranged accuracy.

The bullpup design can have the overall length of a shorter M4 while maintaining the range of an M16. If running a field loadout the bullpup design is almost certain to out-perform the standard AR. In addition to the increased effective range, a bullpup is also much more compact and lightweight, allowing for faster movement, faster target acquisition, and much sleeker and stealthier movements.

Most people usually prefer the standard AR design as it is much more common, and familiar. The standard AR design does tend to be a little easier to hold in a chicken wing grip, which is when the butt stock is held up in the armpit. This grip is usually utilized when buddy dragging, buddy carrying, while entering and exiting the prone position, or when your free hand is otherwise occupied.

At the end of the day it all comes down to whatever the player is more comfortable with, so pick whatever design is better for you. I hope this was helpful, and keep the mission going.
